Thermal-Fluid Sciences: An Integrated Approach ReviewAs a mechanical engineering student who used 4 separate texts for intro thermo, adv therm, fluids and heat transfer, I support the effort to design a comprehensive, integrated text that coherently covers this fundamental M E course sequence as an integrated single field of study. In my opinion, Turns' text at 1200pp is the most comprehensive and applicable for undergrad M E students over a 3-semester sequence. Turns covers all the important concepts and the text price is reasonable for a 2-course or more usage. I also find the Cengel text (1000pp) strong and thorough. Cengel & all is another 1200 pp thermal-fluid science text suitable for 3 semesters.
Either of these texts would be improved with a companion lab sequence w/ tailored labs correlated to text and CD study guide, customized lab reports / manuals.

P S Texts like Moran (600pp) or Potter (800pp) allow non-MEs like Civil E & Electrical E students to get a 2-semester introduction to thermal sciences without a discontinuity created by different texts, also.
I generally promote the concept of integrated thermal-fluid sciences.
