I constantly purchase resource materials and continue to read and observe and learn to better my craft. Many states are moving to the Common Core Math Standards, so I've been researching books that look at math THINKING rather than just math processes. This book is absolutely terrific! I even came back and bought 3 more copies to use as door prizes at the next math workshop that I will be facilitating. No only does this book explain WHY we should use open-ended math activities but it offers MANY MANY specific examples that could be used in a wide range of ways: warm-up, THE activity, exploratory segment prior to a formal lesson, application after a formal lesson has been given, or intertwined within your total curriculum. I eagerly give this resource 5 stars. Thanks Nancy Canavan Anderson and Lainie Schuster for creating such a terrific resource.
