Physics: A World View (with CengageNOW Printed Access Card) ReviewIt is not surprising that students in India, China, Eastern Europe and Russia are way ahead in Maths and Science as compared to Americans. This book has Glossy pictures, but devoid of useful content. The list price of $200 does not include problems, for this you need to shell out another $35+. Compare this with School textbooks in India, where it can be downloaded freely from NCERT, or for the advanced students, the two volumes of "Concepts of Physics" by HC Verma, each costing less than $6.Here is a gem from the very first chapter (page 6, Measurements)
"If someone offered to sell a bar of gold for $200, you would immediately ask, 'How large is the bar?'" - Really? Large or Heavy?
Why are we forsaking classic books like Halliday/Resnick, Sears/Zemansky/Young? or the new ones like Giancolli or Serway/Jewett? Are we that afraid of basic math?
For the price you pay, this book is not worth it. I am afraid, the 1 star, I gave for this is definitely overrated.Physics: A World View (with CengageNOW Printed Access Card) Overview
